Black Education Strategy Roundtable

The Black Education Strategy Roundtable (BESR) is a state-wide, volunteer-led coalition of African-American leaders, organizations, and other committed individuals that advocate for a more equitable education system. BESR recognizes and provides information about disparate impacts, and seeks to correct them with policies and practices that level the playing field for Black students.

We provided a grant to BESR to support the organization with capacity building and strategic planning so that they can be a more effective advocate for Black students. BESR is dedicated to ending the "school-to-prison" pipeline, demanding equitable school spending from state and local budgets, and providing rigorous, caring, culturally relevant education of Black students in order to improve the health, wealth, and happiness of our students, our community, and our state.
