Tacoma Housing Authority

We are supporting the THA-Tacoma School District Partnership to improve outcomes for students living in THA housing. To help ensure that students' housing conditions were safe and stable, THA provided rental assistance to 50 homeless families with children enrolled in kindergarten, first, or second grade at McCarver Elementary School. The THA Special Housing program at McCarver has greatly improved housing and financial support for participating families. As a result of the program, McCarver has decreased its overall turnover rate, attendance of students in the program has improved, and many adults in the program have reported that the program has positively impacted them in their role as parents.
