Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is a leading cause of homelessness for women and children. We're partnering with the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence to support their Domestic Violence Housing First approach. The organization focuses on getting survivors of domestic violence into stable housing as quickly as possible, and then providing services and support as they rebuild their lives.

The Domestic Violence Housing First approach is structured around four tenets: survivor-driven advocacy, community engagement, housing stability, and flexible financial assistance. Outcomes from the first cohort showed great progress and effectiveness: 96% remain stably housed after 18 months, 84% of survivors report an increase in safety for themselves and their children, and 76% of members were able to decrease their reliance on the program once housed.
