The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has deep roots in the Puget Sound and a long history of giving back to the region it calls home. Bill and Melinda created the Gates Foundation with a desire to give back to the community that gave them and their families so much. With Bill Gates Sr. as a lifelong model of civic leadership, the foundation works with grantees to ensure all people in the region have the opportunity to live healthy, productive lives.

For nearly two decades, the foundation has partnered with local nonprofits and institutions to provide grants that expand opportunity through education, give everyone access to the internet at local public libraries, and ensure all families had safe, stable homes.

The grants below reflect only a few of the many grants made and were selected to illustrate the range of partnerships formed in the last two decades. To explore a full database and see all of the Gates Foundation’s grants in Washington State and around the world, visit gatesfoundation.org.
