Leading From the Inside
This report shows how to link research and practice in improving math skills for teachers and students. Pioneered by College of Education Professor Elham Kazemi and other UW researchers in partnership with the Renton School District, Math Labs have been around for nearly a decade. The idea is that a group of district and school instructional leaders, along with UW researchers, work collaboratively with a group of teachers in their classrooms to improve instruction. What everyone learns together during the process informs the research—and the research, in turn, refines and improves the process over time.
