David Bley oversees strategies for great schools, stable housing, and strong communities.
Before joining the foundation in 2007, he worked in the private, nonprofit, and public sectors to address poverty, economic opportunity, neighborhood revitalization, and affordable housing. David serves on the boards of PACE-Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement, and Seattle Foundation; previously served with United Way of King County, Seattle Housing Authority, and Philanthropy NW; and advises the Essentials for Childhood Initiative and Seattle University's Youth Initiative.
David spoke with Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce CEO Marilyn Strickland about the work of the Gates Foundation generally and the Pacific Northwest team specifically, and shares his thoughts on equity and inclusion, his personal career path, and words to live by.
David has a B.A. in urban planning from the University of Washington and a M.A. in public administration from Seattle University.
