April 2019 Newsletter

April 25th, 2019

High-quality early learning is one of the smartest investments we can make. As Marquita Davis, Deputy Director of Early Learning, has said, “All children have the potential to achieve greatness.” But it doesn’t happen by itself, and it doesn’t happen overnight. In our April newsletter, we shared progress made and the work that’s still left to be done.  Here are a few highlights:

  • In April, the foundation’s Deputy Director of Early Learning, Marquita Davis, joined a panel of innovators and advocates at the 2019 ASU + GSV Summit to discuss the importance of investing in early childhood education.
  • Quality pre-K prepares students with the academic, social, and emotional building blocks they’ll need throughout their education journey. We were proud to celebrate the Week of the Young Child this month.
  • The 2018 State of Preschool Yearbook reveals Washington State ranks in the top five of state spending per child, but just 37th for 4-year-olds enrolled in preschool.
