We have reached the one-year mark of the pandemic and while much progress has been made, we still have more to do to ensure safety and health for all Washingtonians.
As a collaboration between the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), Washington State Department of Health (DOH), and the Health Commons Project, we co-released the Learn to Return Playbook. During these past several months, our school districts have been implementing a pilot program to conduct COVID-19 testing in schools. We are excited to present this Learn to Return Playbook, which is designed to offer practical COVID-19 testing resources and strategies for opening school buildings for in-person learning with the confidence of our whole community.
March is also Women’s History Month. We applaud the women in our families and in community for all the labor they do to keep our societies functioning. At the same time, we acknowledge women’s unpaid care work and how the pandemic on women in the United States, especially women of color, has been devastating. And we honor the contributions and sacrifices of all the extraordinary women who came before us that have paved the way towards gender parity.
