October 2019 Newsletter
October 29th, 2019
We’re officially in the long, dark, damp days of fall in the Pacific Northwest. School is two months in, families are trying to stay warm and dry, and students are already looking ahead to winter break—but, in case you missed it, October also marks the opening of applications for federal financial aid for college, also known as FAFSA, and Washington State financial aid, or WAFSA.
In our October newsletter, we’re sharing essential resources for Washington students to secure a successful future, and highlighting what’s needed to ensure opportunity for all:
- To help more students afford a postsecondary education, the foundation has developed a roadmap to fix FAFSA.
- The latest findings from Schoolhouse Washington underscore the need for targeted, equitable, and comprehensive supports for students experiencing homelessness.
- Learn how a University of Washington professor to support more teachers of color entering the profession in the Seattle Public Schools district.
